2021 Baton Rouge Area Youth Rugby Play

No experience needed.  

Thanks to those who helped return rugby to the Baton Rouge area. Let's keep the ball rolling through 2021. These 5-week sessions will kick-off with the HBCU Rugby Classic on May 1st with a Rugby 101 presented in partnership with ROOTS Rugby. This IS your opportunity to find out from the trail blazin' FIRST EVER woman to coach a men's professional rugby US team and former USA Eagle/ USA Women's Rugby Team Captain, head coach of Monroe College Tiffany Faa'ee. As a team, all are highly encouraged to attend and represent since this is the segway for the Spring season! 

Time: 8:30 am- 9:30 am (After, stay and enjoy a day of rugby!)

Location: BREC Highland Road Rugby Pitch, 13829 N Amiss Rd, Baton Rouge, LA 70810

(*registeration is separate). 

After the empowering weekend, the remaining sessions will take place at the BREC Highland Road Rugby Pitch for the consecutive following Sundays: May 9, May 16, May 23 

*Exception of Wednesday, June 2 and Saturday, June 5 Redfish 7s Rugby Tournament, time TBD

The Redfish 7s is the highlight of the youth rugby program where particpants will have their exhibition game.

Rookie Rugby is broken into two hour sessions with two components: 1st hour is learning the skills through drills and the 2nd hour will be implemention through play based on the USA Rookie Rugby Model with the ultimate goal of competing at the annual Redfish 7s Tournament for the Redfish Golden Boot.

*To be eligible to compete at the Redfish 7s Tournament, youth must attend 95% of the sessions.

Rookie Rugby

(Elementary/ Middle School, ages:  6-13, 1:00pm-3:00pm)

Single session: $15

5 weeks: $50

Mommy and Me

(Mom & walking- 5 yrs old,*1:00pm-2:00pm)

Single session:  $18

5 weeks: $60

All who register for all 5 weeks will receive a limited edition t-shirt courtesy of Giraphic Prints.

USA Rugby Annual Membership

All particpants are required to register once per year (resets Sept 1) with USA Rugby.  For this program, the cost is only $20.  If you haven't registered yet, please go to https://www.louisianarugby.org/usarugby-registration and complete your once per year registration.  This registration alows us to have insurance, coach education and coach background checks among other key benefits.
