2019 Louisiana Exiles Information:

 

The Exiles summer all-star season will consist of several practices and the Regional Cup Tournament in Murfreesboro, Tennessee on June 22 and 23, 2019.

The full Exiles schedule is below.    

 

The main tournament will be held in Murfreesboro over the weekend of June 22. This is the Regional Cup Tournament at which the USA national team and High School All American team coaches and scouts will attend. Plus, college coaches will also be recruiting.  The Regional Cup Tournament is the primary pathway for our local players to be noticed by national team coaches. Simply stated: players who want to be noticed at the national level and who hope to represent the United States in rugby and/or to become high school All-Americans must compete in a Regional Cup Tournament.

 

Many former Exiles have gone on to represent the US and/or have been invited to Elite competition, including but not limited to the following:

 

·         Adam Ducoing (Brother Martin; USA u19 Eagles; competed in Europe);

·         Eric West (Jesuit; USA u19 Eagles; completed in Europe);

·         Cullen Glennon (Brother Martin; USA u19 Eagles; competed in Europe);

·         Brennon Falcon (Shaw; USA u20 Eagles);

·         Gabe Massey (Jesuit; High School All American u16 invite);

·         Cameron Troxler (Shaw; USA South u19 Panthers)

·         John Turner (Lake Area; USA South u19 Panthers);

·         Hunter Briet (Destrehan; USA South u19 Panthers).

 

II.            Travel

 

We intend to travel to Murfreesboro in several passenger vans.  Proposed departure times are TBA.

 

III.           Cost

 

In past years the approximate per-player cost has been around $500 which is supplemented by generous and much appreciated donations.  The cost covers travel to Murfreesboro, hotel in Murfreesboro, the tournament fee, and official Exiles match shorts, socks, and warm-up top.  We always try and fund raise to keep the player cost as low as possible.  Players are responsible for the cost of food and souvenirs.

IV.          Coaches

 

The Exiles head coach is Adam Massey (Jesuit).  

 

V.            Varsity and JV

 

We field both Varsity and JV teams in the tournament. Freshman, Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors are all eligible. The JV team will be Freshman and Sophomores only. The Varsity team will be Junior and Seniors.  

 

VI.          Exiles Player Information

 

After a very enthusiastically attended training season, 46 players have been selected to represent Louisiana's best and brightest young ruggers, 23 JV and 23 Varsity. This years exiles are comprised of players from nine different high schools from Covington to New Orelans to Houma.
